Lifetimes

In a million other places,
I've died a million other deaths,
I've seen a million other faces,
Whose names I now forget,

I've walked a million different footsteps,
Leading back and forth around,
I've seen a million different sights,
The memories still abound,

I've shared so many different facets,
Pieces falling where they may,
Warmth, deep thoughts and laughter personified,
Is what they'll carve upon my grave,

So many days yet uncounted,
Full of love and pain and glee,
So many mountains to conquer,
And tears yet to fall like leaves,

So it goes as the sun always rises,
And sets opposite the east,
So life is lead trudging onward,
Even as the trails end is certainty,

With eyes wide open I gaze out,
A past and future's introspective repose,
Lessons learned and the ones not met,
Friends and lovers, fellow wanderers and bitterest foes,

In a million other places,
I've died a million other deaths,
I've seen a million other faces,
Whose names I now forget.
